The Eponymous Dave Long was a Signalman with Railtrack and Network Rail. Dave found A passion in filming his day to day work at the signal box, and his first VHS release is still in the collection today ‘Four Seasons at Settle Junction’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dave was not documenting the railways for posterity, he enjoyed filming and eventually found that people liked viewing his films at home. This realisation lead to the creation of Dave’s Railway Films and many travels as he attended exhibitions and trade shows across the country eventually making it his full time job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When Dave decided to reduce his travel due to ill health he agreed to sell the Railway Films Collection to Online Models Ltd, making us the sole rights holder to 98% of those titles he had released (the exceptions were those specifically filmed by a friend who did not wish the agreement to continue under new ownership). The remaining parts of his business were split with the Aircraft films being sold by his son (until this was closed down) & Dave retained the Ships on Film range which he intended to add to as a less strenuous filming pursuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sadly Dave passed away in April 2020, leaving his DVD and Video recordings, which we had been updating and re-digitising. The much talked about music in the Dave era titles being updated and replaced and a new Eulogy added at the beginning of each Railway Films Collection title in memory of his fantastic record of over 30 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Please be aware, these are filmed on period 90’s, 00’s & 10’s video camcorders and quality may be lower than expected as it was all recorded on standard Definition tapes. Though some may consider his footage eccentric at times, the library is a valuable record of mainline operations through the 90’s and 2000s. Includes Preservation, Nautical themes and deviations to look at birds and wildlife. Before Dave passed away, he contacted Online Models Ltd to discuss the ships on film range. Unfortunately Covid-19 prevented us completing agreements before his passing & we hope to complete an agreement with his estate to bring the Ships on Film range to Online Models Ltd & speedlink streaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
